R.I.P. Chris Benoit 1967-2007

Monday Night RAW should've had a 3-hour special presentation to remember the "demise" of the WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon.

It was supposed to be a gathering of all WWE Superstars from RAW, SmackDown and ECW, but a twist of fate made them and the fans around the world pay tribute to someone who had left the squared-circle forever.

WWE Superstar Chris Benoit is dead.

It was today, June 25, 2007, around 2:30 PM, when the Rabid Wolverine, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel, were found lifeless inside their house back in Atlanta, Georgia.

The exact details are not yet known and investigators still continue to search for more accurate answers to the public's streak of questions. But according to some websites, it was a double-murder suicide.

"It has been confirmed by WWE.com that it has been infact a murder-suicide. The death dates of his (Benoit) family are currently unknown, but Benoit took his own life between the 23rd and the 24th." (Wikipedia.org)

Last Sunday, June 24th, Benoit should've been to WWE's latest Pay-Per-View, "Vengeance." He was scheduled to have a match against CM Punk for the vacant ECW World Heavyweight Title. The fans around the arena kept chanting his name, but the Canadian Crippler's anxious fans just waited for nothing.

"The match was supposed to feature Chris Benoit and Punk for the ECW World Title, but the Rabid Wolverine had to back out due to personal reasons." (WWE.com)

His last match would technically be last June 19 on ECW. It was actually his ECW debut after being drafted from Friday Night SmackDown. He became victorious against Elijah Burke, making him advance to the ECW Championship match at Vengeance.

Until this time, relatives, fans and the wrestling industry is still mourning not only for the loss of one of the greatest WWE Superstars, but also for the death of his family. Such questions about this tragedy might be answered in due time, but it can never bring back the lives that were lost.

No one knows how WWE and its fans can recover from this painful situation. Flying headbutts, German Suplex, Sharpshooter and the Crippler Crossface wouldn't be the same without Chris Benoit. But even though he's not here today, his memory will remain in the hearts of the people who believed in him. And that will surely never die.

May their souls rest in peace...
